8 Días De Viaje a Cancún y a la Riviera Maya

Planear un viaje a Cancún puede tener alguna complicación si pasas por alto algunas de las maravillas que tiene por ofrecer. No te puedes perder ninguna reserva natural y sin lugar a dudas, debes visitas los bellísimos cenotes.

Día 1: De Cancún a Chichen Itza y Mérida

¡Empecemos el día con energía! Chichén Itzá se encuentra a poco más de dos horas y media de Cancún. Fue una de las ciudades-Estado más importantes de la América prehispánica. Recientemente declarada como maravilla del mundo antiguo, es un lugar de la cultura maya.

Visita el templo de Kukulkán, el juego de pelota, el observatorio, el Templo de los Guerreros, el Complejo de las Monjas y el cenote sagrado.

Almuerza por la zona y dirígete al cenote Ik Kill. Conduce después unas dos horas hasta Mérida.

Día 2: Ida y vuelta a Uxmal desde Mérida

¡Esperamos que hayas descansado! Hoy toca conducir una hora aproximadamente hasta la zona arqueológica de Uxmal. Se trata de una ciudad ejemplo de la época clásica y posclásica maya. Visita la Pirámide del adivino y conoce su leyenda, el Palacio de los Gobernadores y el Cuadrángulo de las Monjas.

Tras almorzar, te recomendamos que vuelvas a Mérida y visites la ciudad a pie o en coche, a modo de visita panorámica. No te pierdas el museo del chocolate, donde te explicarán todo el proceso desde la recolección del cacao.

Día 3: Ek Balam, Valladolid, Coba y Riviera Maya

Tras haber repuesto fuerzas, conduce unas dos horas hasta Ek Balam. Esta maravilla significa «jaguar negro» en maya y brilló del 700 al 1000 de la era moderna. Pasea por la grandiosa Plaza Central y la Torre, monumento de gran tamaño.

La ciudad de Valladolid queda a tan solo media hora de allí. Almuerza en algunos de sus llamativos restaurantes y conduce unos cuarenta y cinco minutos a Coba, donde verás la pirámide más alta de México.

Una hora y media te separan de la parte más relajante de tu viaje: la Riviera Maya.

Días del 4 al 8: Riviera Maya

Puedes bucear, hacer esnórquel y otra infinidad de deportes acuáticos.

Ya que tienes el coche, aprovecha y acércate a ver la Playa del Carmen y Xcaret. Hay que pagar una entrada pero podrás bañarte en el cenote, ver espectáculos y monumentos.

A tan solo cuarenta minutos de la Riviera Maya, ahí mismo en Quintana Roo, se encuentran las ruinas de Tulum. Merece la pena visitarlas una mañana.

Seguramente, el hotel en que te hospedes organice excursiones de avistamiento de tortugas marinas y otros animales. No pierdas la oportunidad.

Si te gustan la fauna y flora marinas, visita el Parque nacional Arrecife de Puerto Morelos. No verás nada igual en ninguna otra parte del mundo.

8 Days in Mexico Visiting Cenotes and the Yucatan

Day 1: From Cancun to Chichen Itza and Merida

Let’s start the day full of energy! Chichen Itza is located a little more than two and a half hours from Cancun. It was one of the most important city-states of pre-Hispanic America. Recently declared a wonder of the ancient world, it is a site of Mayan culture.

Visit the temple of Kukulkan, the ball game, the observatory, the Temple of the Warriors, the Complex of the Nuns, and the sacred cenote.

Have lunch in the area and head to the Ik Kill cenote. Then drive about two hours to Merida.

Day 2: Round trip to Uxmal from Merida

Today it’s about an hour’s drive to the archaeological site of Uxmal. This is a city that is an example of the classical and post-classical Mayan period. Visit the Pyramid of the Magician and learn about its legend, the Palace of the Governors, and the Nunnery Quadrangle.

After lunch, we recommend that you return to Mérida and visit the city on foot or by car, as a panoramic tour. Don’t miss the chocolate museum, where they will explain the whole process from the harvesting of the cocoa.

Day 3: Ek Balam, Valladolid, Coba & Riviera Maya

After resting, drive about two hours to Ek Balam. This marvel means “black jaguar” in Mayan and shone from 700 to 1000 AD. Stroll around the grandiose Central Plaza and the Tower, an impressive monument due to its size.

The city of Valladolid is only half an hour away. Have lunch at some of its striking restaurants and drive about forty-five minutes to Coba, where you’ll see Mexico’s tallest pyramid.

An hour and a half separate you from the most relaxing part of your trip – the Riviera Maya.

Days 4 to 8: Riviera Maya

We assume that you have booked an all-inclusive hotel. If not, as you are going to read this article before you travel, we highly recommend it.

You can dive, snorkel, and do countless other water sports.

While you have the car, take the opportunity to visit Playa del Carmen and Xcaret. There is an entrance fee, but you can swim in the cenote, see shows and monuments.

Just forty minutes from the Riviera Maya, right there in Quintana Roo, you can find the ruins of Tulum. They are well worth a morning’s visit.

Your hotel will probably organise excursions to see sea turtles and other animals. Don’t miss the opportunity to see incredible animals that only live in that area of the world.

If you like marine fauna and flora, visit the Arrecife de Puerto Morelos National Park. You won’t see anything like it anywhere else in the world.
