    El utilizar el lenguaje de una determinada manera nos posiciona en la sociedad. Nuestro conocimiento del idioma nos ayuda expresarnos con un registro más o menos informal según el contexto en el que nos encontremos.

    Además, el lenguaje de las redes sociales determina la forma en la que pensamos acerca de personalidades públicas, desde cantantes y actores hasta políticos, y nos ayuda a formar una imagen real de ellos que antaño podría considerarse más o menos idílica.

    El impacto de las redes sociales en la forma en que escribimos habla sobre nosotros. Cometer faltas de ortografía o escribir con palabras abreviadas más de lo que deberíamos forman parte de la jerga en las redes sociales.     ¿Cómo influyen las redes sociales en el lenguaje?

    La capacidad que tienen las redes para modificar el lenguaje es inmensa. Las nuevas generaciones utilizan los canales de Internet para expresar el español coloquial en las redes sociales, lo que no siempre significa un enriquecimiento del lenguaje, sino que también allana el camino para expandir extranjerismos innecesarios o incorrecciones gramaticales.

    Uno de los problemas que podemos destacar del mal uso del lenguaje en las redes sociales es el déficit de atención. ¿Cuántas veces pregunta la gente algo innecesario que viene escrito y aclarado en la publicación en sí?

    Pero no todo es negativo, el lenguaje ha encontrado una manera de abrirse el camino para propagar el buen uso del idioma, y ese ejemplo lo encontramos en la forma en la que la RAE y Fundéu llegan a sus seguidores a través de sus canales en las redes sociales. Al fin y al cabo, Internet y los medios modernos son una oportunidad para hacer llegar el buen uso de la lengua española a todo el mundo.

    Evolución del lenguaje en las redes sociales

    ¿Te imaginas a Cervantes expresarse mediante emoticonos? Aquí tenemos un ejemplo de cómo ha evolucionado el lenguaje gracias a Internet. Hay quien incluso ha tenido la genial idea, y el tiempo necesario, para expresar refranes con emoticonos, aquí te dejamos uno:

    Las redes también han hecho que la forma en la que nos expresamos sea más escueta. La restricción de caracteres y la necesidad de llamar la atención de los lectores hace que el discurso sea corto, claro y conciso. Donde más escribimos es en el ordenador y donde más publicamos nuestros pensamientos es en las redes, pues bien, este sentimiento lo trasladamos a nuestra vida cotidiana. ¡El barroco es más que nunca parte del pasado! Gracias a las redes sociales, se estila un lenguaje simplificado.

    La importancia del lenguaje en las redes sociales

    Sigamos con la evolución del vocabulario. ¿Sabes que se han creado cantidad de palabras por la influencia de las redes?

    Te damos algunos ejemplos: tuitear (retuitear, tuit, tuitero, etcétera), arrobar, favear, googlear o wasapear. Sin embargo, no todas están relacionadas con aplicaciones y con las empresas que gestionan las redes sociales, sino que existen otras muchas como bitcóin, bot, ciberacoso, ciberdelincuencia, criptomoneda, geolocalizar, webinario, cortapegar o copiapega, todas ellas aceptadas por la RAE.

    ¿Qué me decís de las palabras de la pandemia? Si no llega a ser por las redes sociales, palabras minoritarias en algunos países hispanohablantes como cubrebocas, hisopado o nasobuco no habrían llegado a nuestros ojos.

    Se trata del nuevo lenguaje del siglo XXI, y cómo no, las redes sociales e Internet son los responsables. ¡Estamos enriqueciendo el idioma!

    Social media has also changed the way we express ourselves, now we are more concise. The restriction of characters and the need to attract readers’ attention means that the speech is short, clear and concise. Where we write normally is on the computer and where we publish our thoughts the most is on social media, and we do transfer this feeling to our daily lives. Baroque is more than ever part of the past! Thanks to social networks, simple language is in vogue.

    Benefits of Social Media in Language Learning

    Now, let’s talk about the evolution of vocabulary. Did you know that a lot of words have been created due to the influence of social media? The acceptance and formation of new words is a fact.

    Here are some examples: tuitear, retuitear, tuit, tuitero, etc., (tweet, retweet, twitter), arrobar (press at), favear (fav), googlear (google something) or wasapear (send a WhatsApp). However, not all of them are related to applications and the companies that manage social media, but there are many others such as bitcoin (bitcoin), bot, ciberacoso (cyberbullying), ciberdelincuencia (cybercrime), criptomoneda (cryptocurrency), geolocalizar (geolocate), webinario (webinar), cortapegar (cut and paste) o copiapega (copy and paste), all of them accepted by the RAE.

    What about the pandemic words? If it were not for social media, minority words in some Spanish-speaking countries such as cubrebocas, hisopado or nasobuco (they all mean ‘face mask’) would not have reached us.

    This is the new language of the 21st century, and of course, social media and the Internet are responsible for it. We are enriching the language!
